Less is More

On Zoom, time is lost for various reasons.

One reason is simply unmuting and muting mics in interactive sessions when participants want to ask a questions. Another reason is waiting rooms and potential buffering. (Password errors can also slow things down)

Attention spans are also shorter online and need more effort and planning for engagement on your part. There is also a greater exhaustion, monotony and boredom as staring at a computer screen vs being in a more dynamic, physical environment. (Dan Levy recommends new activity every 5 minutes).

Teachers typically plan 20% less for their classes.

(Related to becoming more visual: With the format, it becomes important to engage through less text and more visuals).
